Who am I? My name is Steven Huynh, and I’m a New York City based actor originally from Amherst, Ohio.
Where did you go to school? I graduated summa from Baldwin Wallace University in 2021 with a Bachelor of Music in Music Theatre.
How did I get into music theatre? I grew up loving music and performing! So much so that in high school, I was involved with concert and marching band, choir, theatre, and telecommunications and originally planned to become a music teacher. Then I had the opportunity to take part in Cleveland Playhouse Square's inaugural Dazzle Awards in 2016 as a Best Actor nominee in the Cleveland area (Seymour from Little Shop of Horrors), and that was when I knew—this is what I wanted to do.
What are your hobbies? I wouldn’t say I’m a Jack of all trades, but I am a licensed nail technician, a licensed life insurance broker, and a certified personal trainer! I particularly enjoy Olympic weightlifting, playing guitar, catching up on television series, films, and anime, playing video games, and practicing my cooking skills.
Previous gigs? Most recently, I reprised my role of Wendell / Emmet u.s. in Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas at the Studebaker Theater in Chicago this past Christmas and was in the ensemble of the industry reading for The Lost Boys in February. Other credits include: Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors at both Idaho Shakespeare Festival and Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival; Hero in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum at Maltz Jupiter Theatre; Wendell / Emmet u.s. in the Off-Broadway production of Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas; Dale / Ensemble in a reading of Baked! The Musical at National Alliance for Musical Theatre’s (NAMT’s) 34th annual Festival of Musicals; and television appearances in CBS Studios’s “Blue Bloods” and “The Good Fight”.
